Halfway through 2015: 6 trips in 6 months

June 30, 2015

One of my 2015 resolutions was to venture somewhere new every month, later discovered a lot of bloggers had taken on such a challenge in the past – #12trips. As we’re at the end of June, I’m halfway through and so far so good, 6 trips in 6 months:

#1 – Oslo

My first city break of the year was to the Norwegian Capital with Mo, my sister & bro-in-law (aka the fantastic four). Even though I was quite ill throughout the weekend, Oslo was a fantastic place to visit. We enjoyed every attraction we visited, the Opera House, Nobel Museum, Holmankollen and of course no visit to Scandinavia is complete without a trip to see Viking ships.

#2 – London

Although I’ve visited London many many times before, I like to make sure to try and see new things every time we go. Travelling once again as a fantastic foursome, we stayed somewhere we’d not tried before – the Hilton in Wembley . Other ‘new’ ventures: We tested many different burgers, it was my first time in Shoreditch and I finally got to visit Madame Tussauds (without having to queue!).

#3 – Brussels

Another group adventure, this time to Brussels. We spent less than 48 hours in the Belgian capital, but we managed to cover quite a lot of ground. Mo and I also made a surprise trip to Stockholm mid-month to see our niece on her first birthday. We didn’t go out exploring on this visit, but instead spent some quality time with family.

#4 – Rio De Janeiro

Mo’s birthday present to me was a surprise trip to Brazil! We spent five days in Rio De Janeiro and had one of the best holidays we’ve ever (EVER) had. Some of the highlights were taking in the views by Cristo Redentor, people-watching on Copa Cabana and of course, sailing around the bay watching the sun set over the city. Magical.

#5 – Ben Nevis

Organised by my dear dad, the whole family got together to drive the long stretch up to Scotland. As well as climbing Ben Nevis we managed to fit in a couple of picnic breaks in Luss, Loch Lomond.

#6 – Bala

A weekend break to Bala, Wales with friends (technically family, but think of them more as friends) where we crammed in a number of activities such as horse riding, trampolining and we took a trip on the well known Bala steam engine train.

So six months down, six months to go. A little worried that so far I have nothing planned for July BUT I’m sure over the next few days, I can come up with something…

Any suggestions???
