Make the most of everyday

November 27, 2018

How many times do we hear people go on: make the most of everyday. Seize the moment. Live today like it’s your last. It’s all a bit over used, cliche, do we really take notice? Do we really embrace this life we’ve been given?

Yes this may all sound a bit strange, I disappear from the blog for a while and then whoosh back in with random philosophical nonsense… but I’ve been thinking a lot about this. We recently lost a family member, and it really got me thinking. It made me think back to some of the memories of this past year, moments where I’ve woken up in a morning, watched a day fade into an evening, or simply cast my eye on a sight of true beauty.

All the most perfect memories that came into my mind were those of the beauty of this world. The natural earthly beauty that surrounds us. I kept thinking to myself if I had the opportunity to choose my final adventure in this world where would I choose ?.

So if I look back at my travel memories, most of the tranquil landscapes I’ve enjoyed have all happened in the last twelve months:

Watching the sun set as we cruise down the Nile…

The view of San Francisco from Alcatraz…

Gazing at the coast of Calvi whilst sailing on the Med…

Gazing at the Med from the Italian shore…

Watching the sun set at Worlds end in Norway…

Finding the hidden gentle falls of Kjarea Fossepark…

Discovering the beauty in the great British countryside…

And some of the best ones, are those infamous sprawls of land and clouds from above…

I may not be able to decide on a view, all I know is that when I do find myself a nice place to sit and settle in my own personal moment of silence, gazing out over landscapes, man-made or natural, is my peaceful place. I want to make sure that whatever I’m doing in life, I make time to find more of them and to remember to cherish those moments.

Where would you choose?
